How to cast a Chrome tab to your TV

You can use a Chromecast device to show a Chrome tab or your screen on your TV.

You can show most web content. Some plugins won’t work, like Silverlight, QuickTime, and VLC.

COMPUTER

To show Chrome on your TV, you’ll need:

– A Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, or TV with Chromecast built-in.

– A computer and Wi-Fi network with the minimum system requirements.

– On your computer, you need the Chrome browser. If you haven’t yet, download or update Chrome.

– To connect your computer and Chromecast device to the same Wi-Fi network. View our: “check the Wi-Fi network of your Chromecast device” article

Cast a tab from Chrome:

– On your computer, open Chrome.

– At the top right, click More More and then Cast.

– Choose your Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.

– If you’re already using the Chromecast, your content will replace what’s on your TV.

– When you’re done, to the right of the address bar, click Cast Cast and then Stop.

What you’ll see in Chrome

– When your tab is being shown on a TV, you’ll see Display Display.

– To the right of the address bar, next to your extensions, you’ll see Active Cast Active cast extension.

To use a shortcut in Chrome, add the Cast button.

Cast videos and media

– On the video or media you’re watching, click Cast Cast.

– You’ll see the video or images on your computer and TV, but you’ll only hear sound on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps will still play on your computer.

Cast your computer screen

You can display your entire computer screen using Chrome on Mac, Windows, and Chromebooks.

– On your computer, open Chrome.

– At the top right, click More More and then Cast.

– At the top, next to “Cast to,” click the Down arrow Down Arrow.

– Click Cast desktop.

– Choose your Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.

Cast music and videos from your computer

– On your computer, open Chrome.

– At the top right, click More More and thenCast.

– At the top, next to “Cast to,” click the Down arrow Down Arrow.

– Under “Stream a video or audio file,” click Cast file.

– Select a file.

– Choose your Chromecast device where you want the file to play.

iPHONE/iOS

Note: You can’t show tabs or screens using Chrome on iPhones and iPads.

ANDROID

To show Chrome on your TV, you’ll need:

– A Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, or TV with Chromecast built-in.

– To connect your Android and Chromecast devices to the same Wi-Fi network. View our “how to check the Wi-Fi network of your Chromecast device” article.

Cast your entire Android screen

– On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home app.

– At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Cast Screen / audio and then Cast Screen / audio.

– Select your Chromecast device.

– On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.

– When you’re done, tap the “Casting screen” notification and then Disconnect.
