Setting up an AMP or CONNECT:AMP as Surround Speakers

<= Back

This article covers how to set up and configure the Amp or Connect:Amp to power the home theater surround speakers for your Playbar, Playbase, or Beam.

Before starting, ensure that your Amp or Connect:Amp has been added to your existing system and updated with the latest software before continuing. You will also need to determine what type of surround configuration you are going to use. There are a variety of ways to configure your Sonos home theater. Refer to the table below for all of the supported setups.

In the table below, we refer to the Sonos player that connects to your surround rear speakers as Surround Sonos.

If you’re connecting your TV directly to a Sonos Amp, you can do so either with the HDMI ARC or Optical port. If your TV does not have an HDMI ARC port, you can use an Optical Audio Adapter.

Connect your speakers

If you have not done so already, attach desired speakers to your Amp or Connect:Amp. Be sure that your speakers are using the correct wire gauge and are of a supported Ohm rating. You can find more details on connecting your speakers in the following article:
